The product

How does the CatMatik self-cleaning litter box work?

Weight sensors detect each time your cat uses the CatMatik. After every visit, the sphere rotates to separate the waste from the clean litter and drops it into a sealed waste drawer. The clean litter is then spread evenly again, ready for the next visit.

What are the dimensions of a CatMatik litter box?

Each litter box has its own dimensions. You will find them in the Specifications section at the bottom of the product page.

Is a CatMatik litter box noisy?

No. The CatMatik is designed to run quietly: the noise level during a cleaning cycle stays under 40 dB, about the level of a whisper. It will not disturb your nights, or your cat's.

How long does a cleaning cycle take?

A full cycle takes 60 to 90 seconds. It only starts after an adjustable safety delay, once your cat has left the litter box.

Compatibility

Which cats is a CatMatik litter box suited to?

The CatMatik Halo suits cats weighing 1 to 11 kg, thanks to its 65 L interior. That covers the vast majority of adult cats, including large breeds such as the Maine Coon or the Ragdoll.

Can several cats share one CatMatik?

Yes. A CatMatik litter box can be shared by up to 4 cats. Because it cleans itself after every visit, each cat finds clean litter. For more than 4 cats, we recommend two units.

My cat is shy. Will it adjust?

Most cats adjust within a few days. We recommend a transition period: place the CatMatik next to the old litter box, switched off, then turn it on gradually.

Is the CatMatik suitable for kittens?

For safety reasons, we recommend the CatMatik Halo for cats weighing at least 1 kg. The sensors are calibrated to detect a cat from that weight up.

Compatible litter

What type of litter should I use?

CatMatik litter boxes work only with clumping litter (bentonite or similar). Granules should be between 1.5 and 4 mm for the filter screen to work as intended.

Can I use silica or plant-based litter?

It depends on the model. On some models, silica (crystal) litter does not work with the rotating mechanism. Some clumping plant-based litters can work, but we recommend testing a small amount first. Clumping mineral litter remains the best choice.

How much litter should I add?

Fill the sphere up to the marked fill line, about 3.1 kg of clumping litter. Do not go above that line, so the mechanism works as intended.

How often should I top up the litter?

On average, every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on use. The CatMatik alerts you in the app when the level gets low.

App and connectivity

Do I need the app?

No. The CatMatik works fully on its own, without the app. The app is an extra: it lets you follow your cat's habits, get notifications, and adjust settings remotely.

Is the app free?

Yes. The litter box is controlled from the Tuya app (iOS and Android), published by Tuya Inc. It is free, with no subscription, and gives access to every feature of the device.

Which devices does the app work with?

The app is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android. It needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network to connect to the litter box.

What happens if the Wi-Fi or the power goes out?

If the Wi-Fi drops, the litter box keeps working normally; only the connection to the app is interrupted. If the power goes out, the litter box stops in a safe position and resumes automatically when power returns.

Safety

Is it safe for my cat?

Safety comes first. The CatMatik has several weight and motion sensors that stop the cycle immediately if your cat enters or comes close during rotation. The delay before a cycle starts (3 to 7 minutes) adds another layer of safety.

What happens if my cat walks in during a cycle?

The sensors detect your cat right away and the cycle stops. It only restarts once your cat has left and the safety delay has passed.

Could my cat get stuck?

No. The entrance is sized for easy entry and exit. In addition, the anti-pinch system detects any abnormal resistance and reverses the rotation immediately.

Maintenance

How often do I need to empty the waste drawer?

With one cat, the waste drawer fills up in 10 to 15 days on average. The app sends you a notification when it is time to empty it. With several cats, plan on 5 to 7 days.

How do I clean the CatMatik?

The waste drawer slides out and can be washed with soapy water. The sphere can be wiped with a damp cloth. We recommend a full clean (empty all the litter and clean the sphere) every 2 to 3 months.

Can parts be replaced?

Yes, every part that wears out can be replaced.

How often should I change the carbon filter?

The activated carbon filter, which neutralizes odors, should be replaced every 3 to 6 months, depending on use.

Odor

Does the CatMatik really control odor?

Yes, through three mechanisms: automatic cleaning after every visit (waste does not sit in the litter), the sealed waste drawer that contains odors, and the activated carbon filter that neutralizes what remains.

Does it smell when I open the waste drawer?

Because the waste drawer is sealed, a slight odor may escape when you open it. We recommend CatMatik waste bags, which let you remove the waste without touching it.

How long does delivery take?

Delivered in 5–10 business days, from your order to your door. Shipping is free worldwide.

Business days run Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Order cut-off time: orders placed before 12 p.m. (CET) on a business day are processed the same day. Orders placed after that time, or on a weekend, are processed the next business day.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship worldwide, and shipping is free.

How is the product packaged?

The CatMatik ships in reinforced, unbranded packaging. All accessories (power adapter, user guide, litter sample) are in the box.

Can I change or cancel my order?

You can change or cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it. Contact customer support as soon as possible after ordering.

Warranty and support

How long is the warranty?

At CatMatik, we know a self-cleaning litter box is an investment in your cat's comfort and a cleaner home.

That is why all our electronic devices come with a 2-year warranty (24 months) from the day you receive your order.

What if my CatMatik stops working?

If your device has a problem during the 2-year warranty, here is how it works:

Contact support: email support@catmatik.com with your order number and a description of the problem (a video often speeds up the diagnosis).
Diagnosis: our technical team assesses the problem remotely.
Repair or replacement: if the fault is confirmed and covered by the warranty, we either repair your device or replace it with a new one, depending on the problem.

Do you offer an extended warranty?

Yes. Every litter box comes with a 2-year warranty at no extra cost. CatMatik Care extends that coverage to 36 months for $79 or 48 months for $149, counted from delivery. It adds coverage for wear parts in the mechanism, round-trip shipping, and replacement with a new unit without prior inspection. Supplies (filters, bags, mats) are not covered. It is optional and can be selected on the litter box product page.

Returns and refunds

Can I return the CatMatik if it is not right for us?

Yes. You get a 14-day home trial from the day you receive your order, and returns are free wherever you are: we send you a prepaid return label. After 14 days from delivery, we cannot offer a refund for a change of mind.

What condition does the product need to be in?

To qualify for a full refund within the 14 days:

The item must be cleaned before shipping, for hygiene reasons. A litter box that has been used is still accepted: you are entitled to try it, just as you would in a store.
It must be complete (accessories, cables, manual).
It must be sent back in its original packaging if you kept it; otherwise, in packaging that protects the product in transit.
You must provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

How do I make a return?

To start a return, follow these steps:

Email us at support@catmatik.com with your order number.
Tell us the reason: "14-day trial" or "Fault/Warranty".
We send you the instructions. For a 14-day trial return: we send you a prepaid return label. The return is free and you pay nothing upfront. For a warranty claim (fault): we also send you a prepaid return label (free).
